He collaborated with other artists such as The Roots, Kanye West and the late André 3000. In 2014, he won the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Original Song (Glory) for his work on the soundtrack of the movie Selma. He has also made his mark as an actor with regular guest appearances on hit series like Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Voice. He has also been involved in numerous philanthropic projects, such as his Show Me Campaign which aims to end poverty in the USA.
