Judas Priest is a British heavy metal band originating from Birmingham, England, formed in 1969. The band has been influential on the direction of heavy metal music, culminating in their classic twin-guitar sound of the 80s. Their sound is characterized by a combination of screaming vocals, powerful distorted guitar and pounding drums. They released their debut album, Rocka Rolla, in 1974 which showcased their unique sound, spurring them to immediate critical and commercial success. Over their career, Judas Priest have released a total of 18 studio albums and several live albums. Though they experienced some turbulence in the late 90s to early 2000s, the band is still very active today and have rocked stadiums all around the world and sold over 50 million albums world wide.
