Started in Chicago in1981, Ministry is an industrial-metal band led by vocalist, singer, and songwriter Al Jourgensen. Before preferring the dark metallic sound, Ministry experimented and released a full synthpop album in their early days. The band found commercial success despite their unusual and twisted music style in 1992 with their " Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs" album. Being nominated in 1993 for the Grammy Awards Best Metal Performance, the band started to become a puzzling metal-rock contender in the mid-'90s. Their music reached Billboard 200 and found them playing festivals such as Lollapalooza during the same period. The band split up in 2008 and eventually reunited in 2011 and have since released two albums. Their awry metallic sound never always served as the core of their music. Their music is firmly fixed in political messages.
