UFO is an English hard rock and heavy metal band formed in 1969 by vocalist Phil Mogg, guitarist Mick Bolton, bassist Pete Way, and drummer Andy Parker. The band's classic lineup wasn't officially solidified until late 1973 when Michael Schenker became the guitarist for the band. Throughout the 1970s, the band released several successful albums including their self-titled first album in 1970, as well as major hits like "Doctor Doctor" and "Rock Bottom". In the early 1980s, the band underwent several changes in its lineup but still released a few more successful albums like 1982's Mechanix and 1984's album Misdemeanor. The band continues to record and tour to this day, with the original lineup reunited three times over the course of their career. Over the years, they helped to shape the development of the heavy metal genre, and move it forward in the 80s due to their influence in the genre.
