Backxwash is a Canadian experimental hip-hop artist from Calgary. She combines trap and goth influences in her work and has released records through her own label, Mean Eyed Music. In 2018, she released her debut album, "God Has Nothing To Do With This Leave Him Out Of It," which was met with critical acclaim for its spiritual, introspective, and lyrically complex content. She was nominated for a 2019 Polaris Music Prize for the album, along with winning a Western Canadian Music Award for Rap/Hip Hop Recording of the Year. In 2021, her follow-up album, "Stigmata," was released, with one reviewer writing, "Backxwash has reached a new level of self-awareness and lyrical excellence with [this] second LP." With an ever-growing fan base, Backxwash's unique blend of rap and punk has made her one of the most captivating names in hip-hop.
