BSS, also known as Broken Social Scene, is a Canadian indie rock collective formed in 1999 in Toronto, Ontario. The collective is composed of a group of rotating musicians, most of which have been artists in other Canadian bands such as Stars, Metric, and Apostle of Hustle. The band’s music is known for its experimental and innovative approach, which combines elements of indie rock, post-rock, and electronica. They have released six full-length albums since 2002, and have toured extensively in Canada and Europe, sometimes performing to sold-out crowds. BSS has earned increased critical acclaim since the release of their 2005 album, ‘Broken Social Scene Presents: Broken Social Scene’, which was nominated for a 2006 Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album. They have been praised for their expansive sound and energetic live performances. BSS continues to tour and perform to new and loyal fans alike, with a new album set to release in 2016.
