Compa Steve, also known as Steve Stevens, is an underground composer from Nashville, Tennessee. He has been making music since the 90’s, blending elements of jazz, soul, and hip hop into his unique sound. He is known for his work as a producer for artists like Nas, Common, Talib Kweli, and Big Boi. He has produced many of his own albums, in addition to collaborating with other artists and scoring music for television and film. His musical style has earned him the honor of being nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance in 2009.
