Defeated Sanity is a German technical death metal band from Neukoeln, Germany, formed in 1994 by Johannes Koska and Lille Gruber. They have released seven studio albums, their latest in 2020, 'The Sanguinary Impetus'. Their sound is a mix of brutal death metal and technical/progressive death metal. Over the course of their career, Defeated Sanity have experimented with their sound, infusing it with elements of post-metal and jazz. Their compositions are highly complex and often include irregular time signatures and complex drum patterns. Defeated Sanity's live performance, with members Lille Gruber, Chris Reifert, Jakob Schmidt, and Ronny Fuchs, is just as energetic and punishing as their studio work.
