About Goanna
Goanna are a popular rock band from Melbourne, Australia, formed in 1976. They are best known for their famous single "Solid Rock", released in 1982, which became a rallying anthem for indigenous rights in Australia. The single reached No. 4 in the Australian music charts and the band was credited with helping to bring the indigenous concerns to public attention. Other popular singles included "Let the Franklin Flow", and "The Dream". They released the album Spirit of Place in 1982, which was critically acclaimed. After the success of the album, Goanna recorded two further albums, Common Ground in 1986 and Goanna Gold in 2000. They disbanded in 1995, although lead singer Shane Howard has re-emerged as a solo artist and continues to perform and tour.
