Hieroglyphic Being, born Jamal Moss, is an innovative composer, musician, and DJ, known for creating a genre-defying mix of genres such as electro-acoustic music, jazz, soul, techno, and house. Moss began his career as a record store clerk in Chicago, using the money he earned to buy hardware and computer software to create his own music. For over two decades he has produced tracks and put out his own 12-inches, beginning with his 1999 release "The Acid Bombs". His music frequently tests traditional sonic boundaries, often borrowing from noise, minimalist, and experimental genres. In addition to producing, Moss has also become a highly respected DJ, being instrumental in both the development and legitimization of the «Chicago Juke» style. He has released several critically acclaimed albums, and is a member of the Red Bull Music Academy.
