J Roddy Walston is an American rock and roll singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Richmond, Virginia. He started his career playing in local punk bands, eventually joining the Heart Attacks and forming his own band, The Business, in 2002. His debut solo album, The Hustle, was released in 2008, followed by 2010’s Brave Man’s Death and 2013’s Essential Tremors. Walston’s most recent album is 2016’s Destroyers of the Soft Life, a bluesy mix of classic rock and Southern influences. Along with his own touring and recording projects, Walston has appeared on albums by other acts such as Band of Horses and My Morning Jacket.
