Jaga Jazzist is an instrumental band that was founded in Norway in 1994 by brothers Lars and Martin Horntveth. The band fuses jazz and electronics, often remixing jazz and big band music to create unique sounds. Jaga Jazzist originally focused on acoustic jazz but quickly moved to electronic experimentation and progressive rock when their fan base expanded. They released their debut album A Livingroom Hush (2002) on the Ninja Tune label and have released additional albums since, including What We Must (2005) and Pyramid (2010). They’ve garnered worldwide attention for their experimental sound and have been nominated for two Norwegian Grammys, winning in 2003. Jaga Jazzist has amassed a large and devoted following and their music continues to make a formidable mark on the world of progressive jazz.
