Marcelo D2 (born Marcelo Dourado Peixoto) is a Brazilian rapper, producer, and actor. He started his career in the early 1990s as a member of the rap group Planet Hemp and released their critically acclaimed debut album in 1993. During the mid- to late-1990s he also released several solo albums, such as the platinum-selling Eu Tentei in 1995. In the early 2000s he changed styles and shifted towards reggae and funk, and in 2010 received a Grammy nomination for his album Nada Pode Me Parar. He has since released several other albums, and also collaborated with several other artists including Sepultura and Fernanda Abreu. He is one of the first Brazilian artists to achieve international success, and he continues to be an influence on artists around the world.
