About Melvin Seals
Melvin Seals is an American musician and singer-songwriter from the San Francisco Bay Area. He first came to prominence as the longtime organist for the Jerry Garcia Band (JGB), which once again featured the Grateful Dead guitarist merging his passion for blues, rock, R&B, and jazz. Seals toured with JGB intermittently from 1980 through 1995, alongside such collaborators as John Kahn, David Kemper, Jimmy Herring, Oteil Burbridge, and Warren Haynes, among others. Seals released his debut solo album, Fire Up+, in 2004. Throughout his career, Seals has continued to explore and deepen his relationship with the Hammond B-3 organ, collaborating with artists like Ziggy Marley and the Rhythm Devils in live performance.
