About Nina

Nina avatar

Nina (born Marianna Simnett) is a painter, musician and sound artist based in London. Since 2014, she has been releasing music which combines atmospheric soundscapes, field recordings and her own vocals. Her self-released debut EP, In Hyper Nature, was met with critical acclaim for its unique style.

Nina signed to City Slang in 2016 and released her debut studio album, We're the Weather, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Her follow-up EP, titled Above the Clouds, was released in 2017 and showcased her experimentation with more electronic instruments.

In 2019, Nina released her second studio album, Sleepwalking, on Mute Records. The album combined her lush, transformational soundscapes with modern production elements, such as acoustic drum machines and modular synth.

Nina's music is often described as cinematic and dream-like, and her songs explore themes such as climate change and human relationships.
