Porcupine Tree is a British progressive rock band formed by musician and producer Steven Wilson in 1987. The band began as a psychedelic/space rock project and later moved in a more commercial direction. Their music is known for its high level of production, lush soundscapes, and intricate arrangements. Over the years, the band's line up has shifted numerous times, with Wilson as the only constant member. The band has released nine studio albums, several of which reached critical success, including Fear of a Blank Planet in 2007 and The Incident in 2009. Porcupine Tree has also had several successful tours, headlining major festivals in Europe and the United States. Although the band has not released any new material since 2009, Steven Wilson still performs Porcupine Tree songs on solo tours.
