Rei, also known by her birth name, Rei Harakami, is a Japanese electropop musician. She first started her career in the mid-90s. She released her debut mini-album, Paradise Loop, in 1997, and she has since released six further albums. Rei has a unique and eclectic sound, which often mixes traditional Japanese elements into her pop music. Her most-successful hit songs are ‘Butterfly’ and ‘Kami no Tame ni Shite Okure’. She has toured in Japan as well as Mexico, Canada, France, and the United States. Rei has also done soundtrack works for films, video games, and commercials. Her music has been widely praised, and she has won awards such as the Japan International Music Awards.
