Tony Visconti is a English record producer, musician, singer and songwriter. He is best known for his writing and production work on albums by David Bowie, T. Rex and Thin Lizzy. Visconti initially trained as a classical musician but made his name as a record producer. His work has been prominent in the progressive rock, pop and glam rock, and punk genres. He has produced some of the biggest selling albums in British and American music history, including Bowie's classics "Hunky Dory" and "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars". Visconti has worked in the contemporary genres too, including chart successes for Paul McCartney, Morrissey and The Killers. He is still actively producing today, working on projects for The Divine Comedy and U2.
