Witch is a pioneering funk rock group, founded by Jello Biafra in early 1970s San Francisco. The group is widely credited with influencing the development of the characteristic sound of punk and alternative rock, as well as developing their own unique brand loosely based on funk and psychedelia.

The group broke up before recording their first album, yet there have been several iterations of the band with various other members over the years. Music that Witch recorded between 1975 and 1980 eventually made it to their self-titled album, released in 2004.

In 2014, original members Biafra and East Bay Ray reunited the band to tour and play select shows. Though their setlist for live shows has included songs from their first studio album, the group has since released a few new songs in recent years.
