1991 is a Canadian electronic pop artist known for blending classic video game and R&B inspired soundscapes into a unique and funky style. Starting his career with the single "VHS" in late 2016, he quickly gained praise from outlets including Pitchfork and The Fader. In 2017, 1991 released his much anticipated debut album The 1991 EP, a collection of dreamy, bass-heavy beats that explore themes of nostalgia and life's joys and struggles. His followup album, Waves, released in 2018, further solidified 1991 as an up and coming electronic act in the industry. He has gone on to tour internationally, while also appearing on tracks alongside artists including KUURO, Medasin, and Clairity.
