Anthonie Tonnon is a singer-songwriter and musician based in Auckland, New Zealand. He released his debut EP in 2006, and since then has put out five studio albums - ‘The Standing Load’, ‘Dream Electric’, ‘Successor’, ‘Oh Fortune’ and ‘Truth in the Dark’. All of his songs have a strong focus on themes of longing, hope and reflection, and many address the effect of colonialism and industry on the people of New Zealand. Tonnon tour extensively throughout New Zealand, as well as the US, Europe and Australia, and has opened for many international acts including The National, Death Cab for Cutie and Wilco. He has achieved great critical acclaim for both his albums and his live shows, and is considered one of the leading figures on the New Zealand independent music scene.
