Machine Head is an American heavy metal band from Oakland, California. Formed in 1991 by frontman Robert Flynn, the group has released nine studio albums and achieved international success over the past 25-plus years. Their style of metal draws from thrash, groove, and traditional heavy metal, retaining an emotional and melodic core throughout. Over the years, Machine Head has gained critical acclaim for their powerful and energetic live performances. Notably, their 2011 release The Blackening became the first album for an independently distributed label to reach the Top-5 on the UK album charts. The group has also featured in several major festivals and won the ‘Best Live Act’ award at the Metal Hammer Golden gods Awards in 2011. Machine Head continues to write and record new music, while regularly touring around the world.
