About Beth Orton
Beth Orton is an English singer-songwriter and musician who first gained fame in the late 90s. Orton's music combines elements of folk, alternative, and electronica, among other genres. Her music is often described as "folktronica". She released her first album Trailer Park in 1996, which was produced by William Orbit and earned her a Mercury Prize nomination. Her second album, Central Reservation (1999), was equally well received and featured songs such as "Stolen Car" and "She Cries Your Name". Orton also collaborated with notable names in music such as Ryan Adams, Beck, and Justice. In 2002, she released her third album Daybreaker, which spawned the popular single "Concrete Sky". Her most recent album, the widely acclaimed Sugaring Season, was released in 2012. During her career Orton has toured extensively, receiving critical acclaim for her live performances.
