The Brad Mehldau Trio is a jazz group founded in 1996 by pianist Brad Mehldau to explore the musical possibilities of the piano-bass-drums lineup. The group has released albums on the Warner-Elektra-Atlantic label and featured drummer Jorge Rossy and bassists Larry Grenadier and Matt Chamberlain. The trio has explored post-bop, modern jazz, classical-influenced jazz, and popular music, and their music has been described as “challenging yet accessible.” The trio has become one of the leading jazz groups of the ‘90s and 2000s, appearing at festivals and concerts worldwide, earning Grammy Award nominations, and creating several acclaimed albums. Their most recent album, Finding Gabriel, was released in 2019.
