Howard Hewett is an American singer and songwriter, best known for his work with the R&B group Shalamar in the late 1970s and early 1980s. After the group broke up, Hewett launched a successful solo career, releasing six studio albums between 1987 and 2005. His first solo album, 1985's I Commit To Love, spawned the number one R&B single "Say Amen". His 1989 album Forever and a Day included the top 10 single "This Love Is Forever". Hewett returned to the group Shalamar in 1987 to record two albums, Heartbreak and Friends, and its hit single, "Dancing in the Sheets". Beyond music, Hewett is also known for his acting roles in the 1985 John Hughes film Weird Science and the 1990 film House Party. He has also been a guest celebrity judge on the TV series America's Got Talent and a coach on Showtime at the Apollo.
