Kadim Al Sahir is an award-winning Iraqi singer-songwriter and composer. Born in Baghdad, Iraq in 1957, he began with traditional Iraqi folk and classical music before eventually transitioning to pop and contemporary music. His unique approach has made him an iconic figure throughout the Arab world, earning him titles such as “Iraq’s Ambassador to the World” and “The Universe’s Star”. He has released over 40 studio albums and hundreds of individual tracks, and has won a multitude of awards including the World Music Award in 2005 and a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. He collaborated with various artists throughout his career, including Sting, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Yusuf Islam, and Yanni. Through his music, he has managed to unite generations of listeners from Iraq and other Arab countries.
