Kvelertak is a Norwegian metal band from Stavanger that formed in 2007. The band consists of vocalist Erlend Hjelvik, guitarists Bjarte Lund Rolland and Maciek Ofstad, bassist Marvin Nygaard, and drummer Vidar Landa. Over the past decade, Kvelertak has released three studio albums and two EPs to critical acclaim and also embarked on multiple world tours. Their debut album, 2010's Kvelertak, blended elements of black metal and punk to form a unique and distinctive brand of hard rock. This album was followed by the widely praised 2012 release Meir and 2016's Nattesferd. Together, these records have been credited as reviving and reinvigorating the alternative metal genre in Norway.
