Lil Ugly Mane is an underground hip hop and rap artist from Richmond, Virginia. He emerged in 2011 via online music sharing platforms with his debut mixtape, "Mista Throwback: Nostalgic Weirdo Music". After two more mixtapes in 2012 and 2013, Ugly Mane announced he was retiring from music. In 2017, he made a surprise comeback with his fourth mixtape, "Third Side of Tape", and another mixtape, "Oblivious Rapture". His work is characterized by a lo-fi sound, featuring dense, abrasive production and distorted vocals. His lyrical content centers around macabre, dark musings. He has collaborated with prominent underground hip hop artists such as Yung Simmie and Robb Bank$. Ugly Mane has received praise from music publications and underground hip hop fans alike.
