About Miles Davis
Miles Davis was one of the most universally acclaimed figures in jazz for over five decades. He was a brilliant trumpet player, a pioneering composer, a legendary band leader and a larger-than-life icon who helped define the music's development as a major twentieth century style. Miles Davis helped define the course of modern jazz and beyond as a composer, bandleader and solo artist. His works spanned a variety of styles, from bebop, cool jazz, hard bop and free jazz to fusion, soul and funk. He worked with many of the top jazz players of his time and made history with recordings like "Birth of the Cool" and "Kind of Blue." He continued to grow and expand with an ever-evolving set of collaborations and experimental projects until his death in 1991.
