Nellie McKay is an American singer-songwriter and actress from London, England. A classically-trained pianist since the age of 3, her musical style particularly features elements of jazz and cabaret. She is best known for her albums 'Get Away from Me' and 'Pretty Little Head'.

Her first single, 'David', was released to critical acclaim and is featured in the 2004 film 'Mean Girls'. Her other singles include 'Sari', 'Clonie' and 'Toto Dies'. Throughout her career, she has received several awards and nominations, including the New York Music Award for Outstanding Female Pop/Rock Performance in 2005 and the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in 2006.

McKay has also acted in numerous stage productions, including the musical 'Old Hats' in 2013. She has also released numerous books of essays, lyrics and cartoons over the years, bottling up her unique sense of wit and humor into easily digestible
