The band is best known for their politically charged lyrics and commentary on social issues like unemployment, unionism and the environment. The band is composed of lead singer Mike Brady, backed by Paul Abrahams, John Ian, Rob Irwin, Chas G, Joe Toal, and Chris Ballew on drums. Since their formation in 1984, Painters and Dockers have released two studio albums, each reaching the Australian charts, and several compilations and singles. They have achieved international recognition in their home country with hits such as “Working Class Man”, “Six Months in a Leaky Boat”, and “Chaos in the CBD.” The band has toured with some of Australia's biggest acts including Cold Chisel, INXS, and Midnight Oil.
