Founded in 2009 by songwriter Rick Maguire, Pile is an American indie rock band from Boston, Massachusetts. Since their formation, the band has released five full-length albums, numerous singles, an EP, and collaborations. The group's lyrical themes are often marked by existentialist musings and frank, often troubled depictions of life.

Pile have enjoyed strong regional success and steadily built a devoted fan base over the years. They have toured nationally as direct support for acts such as Cloud Nothings and Parenthetical Girls, and also have appeared at festivals such as SXSW, Hopscotch, and Pickathon. Pile's fifth studio album 'Green and Gray' was released in June 2020 to critical acclaim garnering praise from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, The New York Times, and more.

The band has collaborated with a wide variety of musicians over the years including Joanna Newsom, St. Vincent, and Courtney Barnett
