About Pitch Black
Pitch Black is an electronic music production duo from Auckland, New Zealand. Formed in 1998, Pitch Black consists of Mike Truman and Paddy Free who specialize in dub, ambient and techno rhythms. They have released 7 studio albums, their debut album Futureproof was released in 2000 to critical acclaim and has since released Ape to Angel, Electric Universe and Rhythm Tree.
They are known for their live performances which involve an audiovisual show that seamlessly blends audio and video. Pitch Black’s live performances have been supported by the likes of Zion Train, Orbital, Groove Armada, amongst others.
Their music has been released on various labels including Rhythm Method, Inter:Mission, Loop, Dubmission, Shanghai Dub and Universal Music. They have also collaborated with artists like Fat Freddy's Drop, Katchafire, Salmonella Dub and Shapeshifter.
