Tantric is an American rock band from Louisville, Kentucky, formed in 1999 by singer Hugo Ferreira and guitarist Todd Whitener. As of 2018, the band consists of Ferreira, Whitener and bassist Jesse Vest. The band experienced success in the early 2000s with the release of their major label debut, "Astounded", which reached the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. Their latest album "Mercury Retrograde" was released in 2020. Tantric's music combines elements of hard rock, alternative rock, and post-grunge. Their debut album "Tantric" went platinum, spawning the hit single “Breakdown”, and they have released five more studio albums since then, with well-received singles like “Down and Out” and “Mourning.”
