About The Backsliders

The Backsliders is an American alt-country band, formed in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1994. The group's original line-up included Chris Quinn (vocals, acoustic guitar), Tom Maxwell (guitar, vocals), Steve Howell (steel guitar, mandolin, saxophone) and Tonya Lamm (bass). Their three albums in the early '90s, Throwin' Rocks at the Moon, Dollar Store, and Raleigh Days achieved critical acclaim and success in the alt-country genre. Following a break for several years, their 2002 album, Old Time Ties, marked their return to the music scene. In 2006 they released Slide Show, continuing to expand their sound with influences of gospel, R&B, and vintage rock & roll. They remain active in the Americana music scene, performing at festivals and clubs around the US.
