About The Jam
The Jam was an influential English punk/mod revival band in the late '70s - early '80s. Founded in Woking England in 1972, the original lineup featured Paul Weller (vocals, guitar), Bruce Foxton (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Rick Buckler (drums). Their music blended punk attitudes and catchy pop hooks. Albums such as In the City, All Mod Cons, and Setting Sons, demonstrated a level of songwriting sophistication for a punk band that was often overlooked by critics and fans alike. The Jam moved mainstream with the 1979 single "A Town Called Malice" which charted in both the U.K. and U.S. They disbanded in 1982, with Weller going on to have a successful solo career. The Jam was a pivotal influence on the burgeoning British indie and alternative rock scene and remain beloved by fans worldwide.
