The Spirit of Versailles was an influential American screamo band formed in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in 1998. Known for their raw intensity and emotive lyrical style, the band became a significant part of the late 1990s and early 2000s screamo and hardcore punk scenes. Over their brief but impactful career, they released several records, including a notable split with the band Cease Upon the Capitol. The Spirit of Versailles disbanded in 2002 but remains celebrated for their passionate live performances and contributions to the evolution of the screamo genre.
