Tyshawn Sorey is an acclaimed musician based in the United States. He is an acclaimed jazz drummer, pianist, and composer, known for his work in the fields of jazz, free improvisation, classical music, and electroacoustic music. He has released albums such as Alloy, Oblique - I, and Verisimilitude. Sorey has received critical acclaim from jazz critics, and has won the prestigious MacArthur ‘Genius’ Fellowship. Along with his studio albums, Sorey has performed as a sideman for numerous jazz artists such as Vijay Iyer, Bill Frisell, and Miguel Zenon. In addition, Sorey has also composed works for symphony orchestra, chamber and large ensembles which have been performed by many major orchestras.
