Underworld is a British electronic music group formed in 1980 by Karl Hyde and Rick Smith. Initially, the band was a part of the alternative dance and punk scenes in the UK, then went on to influence the evolution of electronic music. In the mid-1990s, they gained mainstream popularity with their classic hit "Born Slippy .NUXX" from the 1996 movie Trainspotting. They have since released 7 studio albums and appeared in numerous films, television shows, and advertisements with their music. Underworld has also been nominated for multiple awards, including Grammy Awards, BRIT Awards, and MTV Video Music Awards. The group is renowned for their genre-bending, endlessly evolving sound, which fuses techno, electro, house, and pop music. Even after 40 years in the music industry, Underworld continues to tour and produce new music, as well as to inspire upcoming generations of music-makers.
