Warren Ellis is an Australian multi-instrumentalist and composer who has been involved in music since the 1980s. He is best known for his work with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and the Grinderman project, where Ellis plays guitar and mandolin. Ellis has also composed music for multiple feature films as well as television series, including the Emmy-winning drama Top of the Lake. He has released four solo albums and several collaborations, including an album with Iain Banks and the Dirty Three with Mick Turner and Jim White. In addition, Ellis also leads the bands The Scene Is Now and Dirtmusic. He has toured worldwide and performed with the likes of Brian Eno and Lou Reed.
