About Crusaders
The Crusaders, sometimes called the Jazz Crusaders, is an American jazz group that formed in 1958 in Los Angeles. The original members of The Crusaders included saxophonist Wilton Felder, trumpeter Waymon Reed, and pianists Joe Sample and Stix Hooper. The quartet went on to become one of the most successful jazz funk fusion groups of the late 60s and 70s, creating their unique mix of soul, jazz, funk, and R&B with crossover success into pop and rock. With their broad appeal they achieved both critical acclaim and international popularity. In the 1980s, they kept the jazz-funk style alive with their hit hits 'Street Life', 'Put It Where You Want It' and 'The Dreamer'. They disbanded in 1991 and reunited for a tour in 2003. The Crusaders have left behind more than 40 albums, and continue to be highly influential in the music industry.
