About Little Shop of Horrors
Little Shop of Horrors is an American rock musical that debuted Off-Broadway in 1982 before being transferred to Broadway in 2003. It features music by composer Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman. The musical tells the story of a hapless skip tracer named Seymour Krelborn, who discovers a strange plant in a Chinese flower shop, which he names “Audrey II” after his crush Audrey, a co-worker at the flower shop. As the plant grows, so does Seymour’s fame and wealth - but there’s a catch. Audrey II has a soul-sucking appetite for human blood. The musical was later adapted into a 1986 musical horror comedy film of the same name. Its songs, such as “Skid Row (Downtown)” and “Suddenly, Seymour” have become Broadway classics and have been performed in shows around the world.
