Born Omar Lyefook MBE, Omar is an English soul musician active since the mid-1980s. Known for his innovative blend of soul, jazz, hip hop, reggae, and salsa, Omar is a singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, playing multiple instruments including guitar, piano, and saxophone. Omar co-wrote and produced music from the iconic British Reggae group Aswad and released his first solo album in 1986.

Throughout his career, he collaborated with many major artists such as Erykah Badu, Angie Stone, Common, and D’Angelo. He found international success his sophomore album Music, which featured collaborations with Caron Wheeler, Angie Stone, and Jazzie B from Soul 2 Soul.
