David Essex is a British musical artist who has enjoyed both pop music success and success in musical theater. He released his first single in 1970, and became part of the London Rock Scene during the 1970s. He went on to launch a successful musical career, releasing a number of singles and albums over the years. Additionally, he took up a successful career in musical theatre, appearing in productions such as Evita, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and others. In 2007, he received an OBE for his services to performing arts. His back catalogue of albums such as All the Fun of the Fair and greatest hits collection, A Night at the Movies have received critical acclaim and proved commercial successes.
