Melanie Martinez is an American singer-songwriter and photographer, and was a contestant on the third season of The Voice. Her debut studio album, Cry Baby, was released in 2015, and reached #6 on the US Billboard 200. She is best known for her singles “Dollhouse”, “Sippy Cup”, “Carousel” and “Pity Party”. Her follow-up, K-12, was released in 2019. The accompanying film, also titled K-12, debuted at South by Southwest in the same year. Her music incorporates elements of alternative, rock, hip hop and electronic music. She is known for her distinctive contralto vocals and the accompanying visuals for many of her singles. Her work has drawn comparisons to artists such as Amy Winehouse, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Lana Del Rey.
