AG (NYC) is an American musician from the Bronx, New York, who has been active since the mid-2000s. He initially gained recognition for his mixtapes, but achieved his greatest success with his debut studio album From The Can To The Corner released in 2006. His signature sound carries elements of jazz-like melodies and soulful instrumentation, combined with unique, highly irreverent lyrical content and delivery. AG has since released a further two studio albums, certified gold by the RIAA, and several more mixtapes. He has collaborated on many tracks with other artists from the indie hip hop scene, such as Homeboy Sandman and MF Doom, where his music has been critically praised as some of the rawest and smartest in the rap game. AG continues to be highly respected in his genre, inspiring many younger artists to "call it by its real name" through his infectious blend of soul and rap and honest, powerful lyrics.
