General Public was a British new wave band formed in 1984 by vocalists Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger, both former members of The Beat. Known for their distinctive fusion of ska, punk, and pop, they gained international attention with hits like "Tenderness," which became a staple of 1980s music. The group released three studio albums, with their debut album "All the Rage" achieving commercial success. Although they disbanded in 1986, they briefly reunited in the mid-1990s before parting ways again, leaving a lasting influence on the post-punk and new wave scenes.
