Ian Brown is an English rock and indie singer best known as lead singer for the alternative rock band The Stone Roses. A solo artist since the late 90s, he is known for his distinctive style, innovative sounds, and often political lyrics. He has released nine solo albums, starting with 1998's Unfinished Monkey Business, and is also known for his collaboration with bands such as Primal Scream. Always pushing the boundaries of music, Brown is well known for experimenting with a range of genres, from rock, rave, and house music, to the more traditional folk and acoustic sounds. Along with his music career, Brown is a passionate activist, particularly against governments and capitalism. He has found success throughout Europe with four Top 10 UK albums, and is also an author having penned his autobiographies Spiritually Ironic and The Boy in the Bubble.
