Nada Surf is an American alternative rock band formed in 1992 in New York City. The band is made up of Matthew Caws on guitar and lead vocals, Ira Elliot on drums, and Doug Gillard on guitar and bass. The band has had numerous lineup changes in its nearly 30 year career, but Caws and Elliot have been the band’s mainstays since 1992.

The band released their debut album, High/Low, in 1996, and had success with the singles “Popular” and “The Plan.” They followed up with the experimental Let Go in 2002, which spawned the popular singles “Inside of Love” and “Blonder and Blonder.” The band has released eight studio albums since their debut, and their most recent album, Never Not Together, was released in 2020.
