Natacha Atlas is a Belgian electronic, alternative and world music singer who is known for her use of fusion in her music. She was born in 1968 in Belgium to a Moroccan father and a Yemeni mother. After joining the British band Transglobal Underground, she gained international recognition. Her solo career has since become critically acclaimed, with her albums Gedida, Halim and Diaspora being lauded by critics. She has collaborated with a wide variety of other musicians, from Bjork to Thievery Corporation, incorporating different musical styles in her music including Middle Eastern, Jazz and Trip-Hop.
